Dirk Bogarde at Home

Dirk Bogarde is one of Britain’s busiest and certainly most popular screen stars. He seldom takes a rest from filming and seems to thrive on hard work. Life in the gracious Queen Anne house in Buckinghamshire where he lives, revolves around his filming activities, and even when he takes a day off it is carefully planned so that not a minute is wasted.

Intensely interested in art – Dirk began his theatrical career “behind the scenes” painting and moving scenery and designing stage sets – he still paints in his spare time and one of his favourite occupations is rummaging in junk shops for “old masters” and with some success, for he has already unearthed two Zuccarellis.”

Devoted to animals he always has a collection of stray cats, birds, mice and other lesser animals in residence as well as the tropical fish which he breeds.

Recently seen in “Campbell’s Kingdom” and “A Tale of Two Cities,” his next release is “The Wind Cannot Read,” in which he stars with newcomer, Yoko Tani.
